Reverend Koichi Konko Born in Japan and ordained as a Konkokyo minister on June 1, 2000, I have dedicated over two decades to spiritual service and community leadership. My journey began with a profound personal experience that reshaped my life's path. Originally aspiring to be a schoolteacher, I changed course in 1998 when my younger brother was diagnosed with a rare and terminal cancer. This pivotal moment led me to the Konkokyo Seminary, marking the start of my unexpected yet deeply fulfilling spiritual journey. In 2003, I moved to Hawaii, transferring from the Konko Church of Amagi to the Konko Mission of Honolulu. I was appointed as the Head Minister on June 22, 2013. My ministry has been deeply influenced by the teachings of Ikigami Konko Daijin, emphasizing salvation, mediation, and the spreading of divine wisdom. My approach to ministry is rooted in the belief that embracing our challenges with faith can transform suffering into blessings. This philosophy was put to the test when my family faced my brother's illness, a trial that ultimately strengthened our collective faith and brought us closer together. His recovery and subsequent ordination as a minister, along with another brother, underscored the profound impact of our spiritual practice. I am committed to listening to and supporting our community, especially in times of distress, guiding them towards understanding and receiving Kami-Sama’s blessings.
